Essence
"Abou Ali" is the main character of the first episode of a Service series I created, inspired by real stories from Beirut's service drivers and my own experiences.
My fascination with this space began when Service taxis were my main mode of transportation, and I quickly realised that these drivers had incredible stories to tell. The dynamic between driver and passenger is unlike anything I’ve seen before—full of familiarity, hospitality, humor, and satire.
Wanting to capture this unique culture, I compiled these stories into an animated series using clay characters inspired by real drivers. Through this project, I invite you to experience the heart of Beirut’s Service culture—one that feels deeply personal and distinctly Lebanese.
